70 Indonesia Magnificent Dive Sites (part I)

Indonesia is an archipelago located between Indian and Pacific Ocean, in the area known as coral triangle. The archipelago comprises more than 17 thousand of beautiful islands and home of nearly 18% the world’s coral reef. Coral reef is the most valuable of Indonesia marine assets both for fisheries and marine tourism. Here the list of 70 Indonesia magnificent dive sites.

1. Pulau Sumpat is located in the north of Bintan island. The reef is healthy and has good biodiversity of coral, fish and marine biodiversity. The rocky boulders make the underwater view is unique and beautiful. The location can be reached by speedboat from Lagoi which has accessed both from Singapore and Batam by daily ferry.
   
2. Berakit, Bintan is another dive site with good marine life. The reef are home for fusilliers and many colorful reef fish. The easy access to this location made these sites are often visited by local divers and divers from neighbor country, Singapore and Malaysia.
   
3. Dermaga, Pulau Kotok has good environment for experience and newbie diver from Jakarta and adjancent who like to dive near the city. Divers can easily find fusilliers, butterfly fish and othe interesting marine life such as nudibranch, crustacean.
   
4. Taka Menyawakan, Karimunjawa is now become a core zone of Karimunjawa National Park which is not allowed to make any activity here but research and education with the permit are allowable. The reef has high biodiversity of coral, reef fish and marine invertebrates. This site is also known as spawning site for grouper and other reef fish.
   
5. Gosong Cemara, Karimunjawa is a submerged reef which has good coral cover and were recovered from some bleaching. Grouper and other predator are often seen also the pelagics and other herbivorous fish and colorful marine invertebrates.
   
6. Wreck Indonor, Karimunjawa was a steamship sunk on 7 February 1960. It was grown hard coral and soft coral and become home for many reef fish and marine fauna. The location can be reached by boat from Karimunjawa. Dive gears can be rented also in Karimunjawa. Every years the local and foreign divers come to see the beautiful of wreck and marine life. Some time the current can be strong, the visitors need to dive with experience local divemaster. Diving activity in Karimunjawa need to have the permit from National Park authority and must have good buoyancy training before dive.
